Deals took off in the first half of 2021, with the second quarter alone reaching a two-year high with about 40 deals representing $33 billion in value. Enverus says the deal environment is reminiscent of 2014. Post pandemic, however, there are new wrinkles for transactions—ESG and capital access among them. As 2021 marches into the second quarter, is it time to start reinventing the deal?
The E&P A&D market is on track to transact more asset deals by value this year than any year since 2014—and coming off of one of its worst years ever in 2020. What are the drivers behind it? How long will it run? And how is it impacting the structure and investability of the industry? This session will address these key questions, plus the outlook for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022.
Spotlight: Scorecard – A&D Metrics, Trends and Top Takeaways
In this session, we take a look at the most recent A&D metrics and trends and the data behind the deal flow. Which basins are transacting, and which are not? What types of assets are attracting capital? Are valuations improving year-over-year, and is upside back in play? Who are the buyers and sellers?

The past 12 months of consolidation have taught the industry something about the risks and rewards of large-scale consolidation—but what exactly? How are mergers impacting the A&D space? Will these larger independents pay for upside again? Are ESG concerns affecting dealmaking? And will cash buyers come back into the marketplace? This panel will prognosticate the outlook of the A&D landscape for the remainder of 2021.

It’s the question everybody’s asking: Will there be new PE money for oil and gas investments? Can they raise new funds, and are they really looking to put money to work? We’re also starting to see more non-op transactions or MLP-style deals for production (without any meaningful intent to drill). This roundtable explores that as well as exit strategies and the side effects of now owning large amounts of public company stock.

Once the can't-lose investment, minerals took a long pause during the Covid-era along with all of oil and gas.
