Launched in 2016, the DUG Technology Showcase provides a dedicated space within the DUG conference series to explore technology developments for shale production and storage.
For 2018, the DUG Technology Showcase will focus on the technologies that are making significant strides in improving operational efficiencies and increasing recoveries over the life of the shale well, field and play.
Drilling Better, Not Just Faster - Introductory Remarks
Described as trying to hit a target with a baseball bat while dangling from the belly of an airborne airplane, drilling a horizontal well is a spectacular feat. Drillbits that are only a few inches wide must go thousands of feet of rock to reach the reservoir target. It is a feat made possible with advanced materials, skills and technologies working together to drill wells better, not just faster.
Obtaining a social license to operate in an area is the first step in a two-step process. Step two is maintaining that license. The industry is accomplishing this by being better stewards of the air, land, and water with innovative environmental solutions.
Working Smarter, Not Just Harder - Introductory Remarks
There's plenty of ground for operators and service companies to decipher and to cover across the Western states where the Bakken, Three Forks, Niobrara, Codell, Mancos, Parkman, Turner and Frontier plays are located. Digital technologies are making it possible to better determine reservoirs, well placement and fracture locations, as well as making remote monitoring and reporting possible, ensuring windshield time is time well spent.
