John Durand

XRI Holdings LLC, President & Chief Sustainability Officer

John R. Durand is President and Chief Sustainability Officer of XRI Holdings, LLC, the water midstream portfolio company of Morgan Stanley Energy Partners. In his role, John oversees XRI’s commercial, ESG and governmental relations functions. XRI operates approximately 300 miles of large diameter pipeline in Texas and New Mexico, transporting produced and non-potable water throughout the Midland and Delaware Basins. XRI is the leading produced water treatment and recycling company in the Permian Basin, reusing approximately 200 million barrels of produced water annually.

 

Prior to joining XRI, Mr. Durand was a founding partner of WaterBridge Resources, LLC where he served as President and Chief Operating Officer.  Previously, John served on the management team and startup of Pioneer Water Management LLC, where he oversaw the company’s commercial, logistical and supply sourcing functions.  His career spans more than three decades of upstream, midstream and downstream experience in the oil, gas and water sectors, along with experience in the development and construction of natural gas and renewable energy power projects.  Notably, John has negotiated landmark public/private partnership agreements in the water space with three Texas municipalities (Midland, Odessa and Fort Stockton).

In addition to his role on the XRI board, Mr. Durand serves on the board of the Energy ESG Council.  In addition, he serves on the board of directors of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and sits on the Alliance’s Executive Committee. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Produced Water Society where he serves on its Technical Committee. Additionally, Mr. Durand serves on the Environment and Safety Committee of the IPAA and on the Energy Advisory Board for the University of Texas at Dallas.

John holds a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance from the University of Dallas and a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Louisiana.
